Don’t know what I’m gonna be doing for 2 months after n/o levels

I’ve almost completed my N and O levels. I might be going to secondary 5 but I don’t know. I feel so empty right now, I used to want to do volunteer work or work part time but I’ve lost all motivation from anxiety from an incident that happened months ago. I don’t have friends to hang out with. I don’t know what to do with my time

Hi @user7467, thank you for reaching out once again.

To understand your situation better, are you able to shed light on the nature of the incident and how it is affecting you?

With regards to friends, there are many social communities out there, such as Friendzone SG and Stranger Conversations. In these third spaces, people are allowed to come as they are, and forge connections with others.

And to address your question on volunteering, you may wish to look at websites such as Giving.sg (https://www.giving.sg/home) and Volunteer.sg ( volunteer.gov.sg ).

Alternatively, you can approach your nearest SG Cares Volunteer Centre (SupportGoWhere ) to see the volunteer opportunities available in your neighbourhood.

Hope you find this helpful! :+1:

Hi @user7467 thanks for sharing! Would you like to share more about that incident? (just share what you’re comfortable with:heart::heart:) it’s okay and honestly quite normal to feel unmotivated sometimes. Perhaps you could try remembering why you wanted to volunteer and work in the first place? Have you tried inviting your family members for an outing? I think volunteering could also be a great place to make friends at! Feel free to share more  we’re here to listen

@user3088 I wanted to volunteer because I had a purpose in life back then… now I’ve lost the feeling if that makes sense?

My family is too busy and it’s not the same as it was when I went out with them as a kid

I’m kind of cooped up at home and I can only regret my actions in here, and at the same time I don’t want to go out, it’s like I don’t even know what I want

Hi @user7467,

Well, it’s never too late to try! One thing that I enjoy about volunteering is that everyone is on an equal playing field, regardless of their background or what their life circumstances are.

And I believe that the same principle applies here! While I do acknowledge that you are going through a lot, I do not feel that it should stop or hinder you from doing the things you enjoy.

And since you’ve already finished your exams, why not give it a shot? You’ll never know what exciting adventures are in store until you take the first step! So don’t let your struggles hold you back from making the most out of your holidays. :hugs:

hello, thank you for sharing. perhaps you would like to engage in some of your hobbies? I remember being able to read the books I have been meaning to read after O levels. it does help! also, perhaps going on “me time”, such as visiting different walking trails and nature parks:)
