hey @user6138! thank you for being so honest about this, i get how you feel :(( wanting external validation is such a natural human desire… everyone needs to feel seen, appreciated, and respected at times, and it’s super hard when we don’t have anyone in our lives offering that
. it makes sense that seeing others get the kind of validation you’re craving feels painful – i’ve felt that hurt many times too.
you’re not wrong for wanting external validation, but i also need to stress how dangerous it is to completely rely on it. it feels euphoric when people approve of you – the likes, the compliments, the praise – but when all that slows down or disappears, it can feel like your whole world collapses with it. your self-worth ends up rising and crashing based on other people’s reactions, and that’s such an exhausting way to live.
what’s more impt is internal validation – being able to hold onto the belief that you’re worthy even w/o anyone else saying it. idw to preach, and ik it’s super hard to build internal validation from nothing, but it rlly is necessary for long-term peace.
maybe sth small you could try is to give yourself tiny bits of validation each day (eg. “i handled that better than i thought”, “i showed up even though it was hard”). it may feel silly at first, but over time it truly does build a steadier, less precarious kind of confidence.
you deserve to feel seen and valued, both by others and by yourself. sending you a lot of warmth
