hi, im honestly not sure how this works so im really sorry if im doing anything wrong but i genuinely feel like im going insane. i feel really really low, and have been for quite some time. so much so that ive had extreme depressive episodes and periods of feeling totally numb. i feel like everything i do to try and feel the least bit happy is just a temporary fix and doesn’t solve the underlying sadness. it feels hopeless because i don’t feel like i have any environment where i feel completely safe. i don’t have the best home environment and there are things i don’t feel comfortable sharing with my friends. even small things feel extremely overwhelming for me and it often feels like i really just cannot function. but the thing is, i have to anyway. i can’t afford to fall behind, i have responsibilities, and i just keep relentlessly pushing till i run myself to the ground. and it’s just like this vicious cycle that i can never escape. my breaks don’t feel like breaks at all and im absolutely exhausted. i feel like im rambling but i just needed to get this off my chest because i have nobody who would listen
Hi there consistentjellyfish9340, thank you for reaching out today!
Firstly, there is nothing you have to be sorry about, you don’t need to know how this works to reach out for support, just share anything that is bothering you, you are not doing anything wrong.
It sounds to me that you have been holding on to a huge amount on your own for quite some time. This exhaustion that you are feeling is real and valid. It is truly a sad thing to hear that you feel like there is no environment that you feel completely safe, and that you feel hopeless due to it. Everyone deserve to have a safe environment and proper support, you also mention about needing to keep pushing until you run yourself into the ground, would you be comfortable in sharing with me more regarding that?
Lastly, when you mentioned you feel really low and hopeless, may I ask if you could share more on that too? I want to better understand you and best support you. You can also reach out to Mindline at 1771 or 6669-1771 and share it with a counsellor there.
thank you so much for replying
it means a lot to be seen cuz ive felt neglected all my life. and of course, i can share more. to put it simply i just have responsibilities and commitments that i can’t ignore (im a uni student). i feel like even small tasks feel impossible for me but I power through them anyway and by the end i feel completely depleted you know?
and on feeling low and hopeless, honestly, i don’t really have the words to explain how I feel. i have this bone-deep sadness that doesn’t seem to go away no matter what i do. i feel like i can’t focus on anything, and i have a really hard time putting any sort of effort into anything. i also feel like my brain is never quiet? i don’t ever stop thinking and that makes me more tired. i just feel like i can’t keep going on like this, but i do anyway.
Welcome! I am sorry to hear that you felt neglected, no one should, you deserve to be seen and hear. I hear you on your responsibilities and commitments; it must be really difficult when you have so much on your plate at the moment to the point that that you find even small tasks to feel impossible. That sounds like you are at your limits but have no outlet to let out some of those pressure building up. I am wondering, if you could reach out to your school counsellor and have a professional support?
Also, it makes sense that you can’t seem to focus on anything, your mind is fully loaded with so much that is going on in your life, how can you or anyone expect you to have any space to do anything? Times like these, we will always advise people to take it slow and focus on one thing at a time, but I also understand that it is easier said than done. But hey, I am glad you reach out to us and share with us what is going on, that is the first step in reaching out for support, be proud of yourself for doing that. The next step could be reaching out to your school counsellor or just calling 1771/6669-1771 to speak to someone.
