whevener i tell my father something bad, he just brushes me off. today I told him about my friend who was going through a tough time, but he just said “oh her reaction to that situation was weird.” like he completely missed the point, which was my friend suffering. So i told him that he was being dismissive and he said that thats just how he saw the situation and he’s just saying how he interpreted it. I even told him a better way to respond is to respond with some empathy, but he refuses and says he’s “not programmed” to do that and that by doing so would be “pretending”. So I guess that means he really just does not give a ■■■■ at all about anything? I told him “I’m not asking you to pretend. I’m just disappointed and I know you won’t change.”
no wonder my mom’s so stressed about work, she doesn’t even have a proper outlet cuz my dad would probably just freeze up and leave her alone. im just so mad.
