Just want to check up with myself

Is it normal if you pray then you pray for everyone or you feel that religious guilt ? Or when you go to bed you need to touch the wall or you feel something bad will happen

I dont know how to put it so I dont sound like im faking anything;ive had some scary self inflicted thoughts since young but i brushed it off since I thought people wouldn’t take me seriously and I didnt want to seem like I was those people who took having mental health issues as a personality. You know ?

But now of course we are all growing and as I grow i just feel concerned if my behaviour needs to be checked or if its just a quirk.

I feel that i usually overthink a lot like if I lock the door i NEED to touch the handle to see if I actually locked things or re do things so it feels like if my volume is at 12 and it doesnt feel good I need to change it to 15 so its a “good” number idk how to say ,im really trying to convey what i go through but its hard to put into words, apologies:-(

Have a good day to whomever reading this i wish you all the best:-)

I want to do a check up but I was thinking maybe when I grow up since my mum doesnt believe in these things:sweat_smile:

Hi there readybonsai5239, thank you for reaching out today!

Well, I can’t comment about the religious question you shared but about the rest, from what you are describing, it does sound like you might be experiencing symptoms of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). The need to touch the door handle to check if it’s locked, needing the volume on a ‘good’ number, needing to touch the wall before bed. However, that is not to say that you might have OCD, all those you have shared could just very be your personality, or habits you had formed over the years. I would say that it is a concern only when those behaviours affect your daily life.

You mentioned wanting to wait until you grow up to get a check-up because your mum doesn’t believe in these things. I understand that’s a real barrier, and I don’t want to dismiss it. But you don’t have to wait alone with this. If there’s a school counsellor available to you, that could be a good first step that doesn’t require your mum’s involvement.

Alternatively, you can always reach out to Mindline at 1771 or WhatsApp at 6669-1771 to speak to a counsellor.
