need help but its out of reach

hi, really lost and helpless right now

been struggling with self-esteem and anxiety issues all my life, but its gotten really bad recently with stuff going on right now

my parents do not take my feelings seriously, and think that mental health is an illness for those who have too much time to waste

Because of specific circumstances over the years my social circle has mostly disintegrated and I do not have pillars of support from friends or family

Though I have been trying to find help online I cannot find any sources of help or counselling support that does not involve privacy concerns (context is that I am a university student now on a government scholarship, and I have heard many cases about those who sought help through such channels being discriminated in their workplaces, even terminated after probation, likely from their leaked/involuntarily disclosed mental health histories). So most of the public channels are blocked out to me (as they are not bound to protect my data and session details to my public service employer). Private channels are out of reach too (financial costs, im not able to afford them)

my university counselling is also notoriously slow, drawn-out, and ultimately harmful to those who have tried it.

Just wondering if there are any remaining platforms of support I can seek help from and talk through my problems with, that allow me to remain anonymous / does not record and keep my details and information (of course, unless there’s threat of self-harm/harm to others/legal implications and criminal offences).

Hi @modestchinchilla6429,

What you’ve shared, that sounds like a really isolating place to be in right now. I hear your concerns about privacy and career implications is real and I don’t want to dismiss it.

These are some resources you may want to consider reaching out for support right now…

  1. National Mindline 1771 – This is an anonymous mental health support helpline which runs 24/7. You may call National Mindline 1771 at 1771 or WhatsApp 66691771.

  2. Limitless – They provide mental health support for youth and more information can found here www.limitless.sg.

  3. CHAT – CHAT provides personalised and confidential mental health assessments for young persons between 16 and 30 who are currently living in Singapore. More information can be found in this link as well https://www.nhghealth.com.sg/imh/chat/get-help.

I do want to encourage and reaffirm you that there is support for you and that you’re not alone in this journey right now, take care!
