Relationship Advice

Hey everyone !

Today, I’d love to open up a conversation about relationships – specifically, for those who are experiencing one for the first time. Whether you’re brand new to relationships or you’ve been in a few, we can all agree there’s a lot to learn when it comes to building a healthy connection with someone else.

Navigating something so unfamiliar can be both thrilling and difficult for those who are just getting started. Let’s share our knowledge and counsel in order to support one another! To begin, let’s ask some questions:

  1. What would you say are the “must-knows” for anyone new to a relationship?
  2. How can someone balance openness with their partner while maintaining their own individuality?
  3. What are some tips for handling conflicts in a healthy way?

Feel free to share your own experiences, any lessons you’ve learned, or things you wish you knew when you first started dating :kissing_closed_eyes:

Looking forward to hearing from you all!

I’m a newbie in terms of relationship but I am starting to see the value of compromising and balancing my partner and my needs. I feel like the act of compromising speaks a lot, it indicates that:

  1. my partner is observant and notices my needs or we have already communicated well before that
  2. willingness to act upon after awareness
  3. actually putting in the effort to compromise

I think there are a few important “values” that need to be communicated upfront. Eg

  • whether you intend to have kids or not
  • how you intend to spend / save your money
  • whether you intend to stay with your parents in future
