Games people play

Hello! :waving_hand:

Do you know that board games are always fun, if we play together with friends, and of course, good for mental health, at the same time as well?

Just to get a sensing, what are your favourite board games, be it in your past times or recent times?

Hey hey!

Totally agree—board games are such a great way to have fun and sneak in some mental stimulation! I grew up on board games at home!

Some of my faves would be Coup (the bluffing chaos is real), Sushi Go (so cute yet competitive), Cluedo (classic mystery vibes), and games like Wavelength that test how in sync we are. Oh, and that phone game Family Style (cooking together)? Love the teamwork-shouting combo—it’s adorable and hilarious.

Also into stuff like Forbidden Island when I’m in the mood to stress over sinking tiles and pretend I’m calm.

What about you? Got any underrated gems I should check out?

I enjoy the games with a bit of mystery and role assignment (like Secret Hitler and Werewolf)! But it can get intense and competitive

I have also recently found out that there are cooperative board games! Which might be more fun in building connections with others!!! I believe there’s a cooperative Harry Potter game that has various rounds as you play through the story

recently i got introduced to a couple of card/board games which i loved so much i got my own set to bring to gatherings HAHA
ā€œsaboteurā€ and ā€œtaco cat goat cheese pizzaā€ are what i’d recommend. saboteur is very similar to werewolf and secret hitler where you kind of need to play bluff HAHAH
but taco cat goat cheese pizza is super simple! basically snap HAHAH and it can get really chaotic really quickly ~

Wow, cool, seems like you really know a lot about board games! Do you still play them nowadays?

There were classical ones like Monopoly, The Game Of Life, Scrabble, Uno Stackle, and even Jenga, as those were childhood favourites from my time.

Do you know that Singapore has board game cafes? The Mind Cafe, Playnation, The King and the prawn, and the list still goes on. So yup, you can check them out if jio-ing your friends for more board game fun! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Hello, I love playing sushi go! It is such an aesthetically-pleasing card game and a chill game to play with friends in general.

I used to go to Playnation but unfortunately the outlet that I frequent closed down.

Hmm this is a good question

When I was younger, I love to play board games like Monopoly and Game of Life with my cousins/ family. A few years back after being invited to play games at Minds Cafe, I enjoyed games such as Ticket to ride, Code Names, Rat to Riches etc

Great to hear that, as Sushi Go is also one of my favourite board games! Have you tried other board games?

Also, oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that. Will you mind sharing where the outlet was used to be at?

Other than that, have you tried visiting other board game cafes also? FYI: dfferent board game cafes do have different experiences, in terms of board games and F&B, among other things.

Nice and great to hear your childhood memories, for the board games you played before, with your cousins and family.

Besides The Mind Cafe, have you tried visiting other board game cafes as well? Not all board game cafes are the same, TBH.

Yup I’ve been to a few, I can’t exactly remember all their names but I’ve definitely been to Playnation

Secret Hitler and Werewolf are also my favourite, nice to hear that! All the intensity and the challenging obstacles, you’re so right, I’m feeling them already! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Speaking of cooperative board games, true also, they do help to bond deeper and meaningful connections. Any others you can think of, aside from Harry Potter?

Wow, I’m already feeling the flow and vibe of having fun with those board/card games that you’d played.

I’m just curious, what else have you tried playing? Feel free to share more, and of course thanks for sharing!

That’s ok, as long as you’d fun enjoying. Besides Playnation and The Mind Cafe, it’ll be good also, to try visiting The King and The Prawn, whenever you’re (and your friends of course) available.

Oh yes that’s the name of the board game cafe my friends and I went to, we used to have monthly catch up over board games.

I enjoy Werewolf, but have yet to try other social deduction games.

How come no one talked about apps like Meetup and Eventbrite? There are plenty of board game groups on those (free ones and paid ones)! I encourage all to download those apps and explore!

Great to hear that, and try visiting more often in other BGCs when you’re free!

There are still, and will always be, chances to try, whenever your availabilities!

Social deduction games are my favourite too, much more fun indeed!

Speaking of board game clubs or groups, other than on the event-booking apps you’d mentioned, perhaps how about having the idea of forming one and jio everyone to play together?

Nice and thanks for the recommendation also!
