i hope im not seeming like im looking for attention but i actually have 5 or 6 ongoing mental conditions and its rly getting harder and harder to manage them. im struggling so badly and my parents are just not mental health literate and i feel so alone. i do try to reach out to counsellors and i do already have mental health specialists but it’s just not sufficient :/.
Dear @user9931
Thank you for reaching out here, sharing about your current challenges. Please know that by writing in you demonstrate determination to seek ways to feel better. Rest assured, it is certainly not viewed as your attempt to seek attention.
Well done, too, on already seeking support from professionals. From your sharing, I gather that the current support you are receiving from counsellors and mental health specialists has not been fully helpful in managing your conditions.
It may be useful to do a stocktake and evaluate what interventions have been working and what has not.
To help organise your thoughts, do consider writing down what support you need which you are not getting. I believe this will be difficult initially, but starting to write can also help you process what you need/don’t need.
Approach the counsellors with this evaluation to help them better understand your situation. This feedback can help provide valuable data for them to modify and improve how they support you.
I fully get that you are feeling alone and unsupported at home, with parents not understanding what you are enduring.
Open up gently by sharing with your parents on how you need them to support you. I think being more specific on what they could do may help. For example, they could help you stick to a daily routine.
May I also encourage you to call the national mindline hotline at 1771, especially when you feel overwhelmed and alone? The hotline operates 24/7 and staffed by competent and caring counsellors who can provide that immediate support needed.
Please know that you have already shown a lot of courage, resilience and tenacity during this difficult period. You are not alone, please continue reaching out here whenever needed too. Take tiny steps forward, and keep going. Sending you warmth and care.
