I was always the bookworm, ykow? The kid that never touched grass? But ever since i graduated into high school, esp after being exposed to lots of different groups and types of people, it hit me how small my life and social circle is, and how much i need to expand. Neighbour bestiez, ballet soulmates, concert band geekmatez, online friendships, heck i wanted them all!
I jnow most people dont even desire or have that many wants for their life, but now, whenever im home after school, i feel so empty like i should be doing something more meaningful. Mind you, i have tried, but its all moving so slowly that every second seems painful.
The worst thing is, when i tried to drown it out with romance books or manga, it just makes me feel worse about myself… what should i do??

Hi user 1410
Thank you for bravely coming forward and sharing your feelings and challenges.
Many of us do have similar experiences at certain times of our lives so please do not feel alone. It’s perfectly normal to want to expand your horizons and participate in different interest areas, widen social circles and savour life!
I recommend you could make a list of the interest areas you wish to explore.
Some may require more resources than others so I suggest you rank them in terms of priorities and spend time to research on what you need to do to get started.
It’s good to focus on a few at a time and to be realistic on what you could accomplish and when. Do up a schedule that will show you your commitments in and out of school. Include time for rest and relaxation, too.
Start small and I believe the journey of discovery need not be rushed to fully enjoy it. Talk to your friends and family to gather ideas and support. It may be more fun too if you do the activities with company. Slowly, you could grow a wider circle of friends with similar interests and who understand and care.
