Is this stress or anxiety

Hi, I have been feeling stressed almost everyday even during school holidays. I tend to overthink almost everything, every situation. I start to get chest pain and will start searching on google about chest pain…symptoms etc…(I know this makes me overthink even more) How can I stop these to live a more carefree life? I feel like I’m going insane…sometimes I have shortness of breath and stomachache, is this normal?

Hey there!

It sounds like there is a lot going through your mind right now, even throughout the school holiday!? It seems like the worry that’s been occupying your mind is affecting your body by sending you strong signals through symptoms like chest pain, shortness of breath, and stomachaches. That’s understandably concerning.

It’s important to acknowledge that what you’re feeling is real and distressing, but I also want to reassure you that this is normal, but there are also ways to help you manage these overwhelming feelings and symptoms.

You mentioned that you often find yourself overthinking situations and searching for answers online. It can be easy to get caught up in that cycle, but it’s also one that can leave you feeling even more anxious. Would you like to share more?

What you’re describing sounds a lot like anxiety. It’s also natural to want answers, especially when you’re feeling scared, but excessive googling can often reinforce the worry. It’s okay to not have immediate answers, and sometimes, the reassurance we seek from unknown or unverified sources can do more harm than help.

Instead, I’d encourage you to start noticing when you’re feeling anxious and perhaps try practising grounding techniques—like deep breathing or focusing on the present moment—to help break that cycle of overthinking. Have you tried any relaxation techniques, like deep breathing exercises? These can be really helpful in moments of panic or when you feel overwhelmed.

It’s important to remind yourself that you are not alone in addressing this. Anxiety can feel isolating, but it’s something that many people experience, and with the right tools, it can be managed. Have you had the chance to talk to anyone about these feelings—like a friend, family member, or perhaps a counsellor at school? Talking it out can really help take the weight off your shoulders.

Just remember, it’s okay to ask for help and take things one step at a time. You don’t have to face this alone; there is help available to explore some practical ways to manage the physical symptoms and reduce the anxiety you’re experiencing. Take care and let us know what else you need.

Thank you! I have booked an appointment with my school counsellor for the first time, hopefully it will helped me in some way.

Third paragraph: It’s just whenever I feel some sort of pain, I will start googling about “What happened to me?” “Does this a cause of ___?” “Why my ___ start to hurt?” etc. Which I know its bad as I will overthink even more.

Would it help if you posted your health-related questions here rather than searching for answers on your own?

You probably won’t find medical practitioners diagnosing here, but at least you get to speak your mind and concerns, and I am sure that there are many others here to share how they are coping too…

Only if the questions are not sensitive for you to share.

I will search up like “Does anxiety causes chest pain?” “Why do I feel shortness of breath?”
