I’ve been struggling with insomnia and anxiety
@user0164 thanks for sharing your concerns. Insomnia and anxiety together is really hard and sounds like there is a lot going on. When you are more anxious, it tends to disturb your sleep. Because you are not getting enough sleep, you might be becoming more anxious.
May be you could start by sharing what is making you anxious? You don’t have to figure it out all alone. We hear you.
Meanwhile if you are comfortable, you could try few rounds of deep breathing which will help ease some of the anxious feelings. You could try inhaling for 4 seconds followed by holding your breath for 7 seconds and slowly releasing it through the mouth for 8 seconds. Alternatively, some simple deep breathing (inhale and exhale) should work too.
hi @user0164
your words are really bare. and sometimes that’s what it’s like right…when you’ve been battling this long enough, you just drop the full story and name it plain.
insomnia and anxiety don’t just exist on their own. they feed into each other. and they can really mess with how safe your body feels. do your nights feel more alert than your days? like your brain won’t shut off no matter how tired you are?
can i ask… is it worse when things go quiet at night? or are there other moments it creeps in too?
not asking you to unload everything. just a little more so we can see what’s underneath.
Hey @user0164
Simply putting yor feelings into words about what you have been going through already took a lot of courage, so thank you for sharing your thoughts. Dealing with both insomnia and anxiety at the same time can feel very exhausting. It’s completely understandable to feel worn out when your mind is constantly running. Be gentle with yourself, you are doing the best you can.
May I ask how long you have been dealing with anxiety and insomnia?
