Why should we care about self-care?

I know we all have our own definitions of self-care, and for me I like to think of self-care as our personal maintenance routine. :red_car: Just like you take care of your car by giving it fuel, oil changes, and the occasional wash, self-care is all about giving yourself the love and attention you deserve. It’s about doing things that make you feel good, healthy, and happy.

Why Should You Care About Self-Care?

  1. It Levels Up Your Health! Eating right, getting enough sleep, and staying active keep your body in top shape. Plus, who doesn’t love feeling like a superhero? :woman_superhero::man_superhero:
  2. It helps to Boost Your Mood! When you take time for yourself, whether it’s chilling with a good book, hanging out with friends, or practicing mindfulness, you feel more relaxed and less stressed. Goodbye, bad vibes! :wave:
  3. It can help crush your goals too :slight_smile: Ever notice how you’re way more productive when you’re not exhausted or stressed out? That’s self-care magic at work. :sparkles:
  4. Self-care helps us be a Better Friend :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: When you’re feeling good, you’re more fun to be around. Your friends will thank you for being the awesome, energized, and present buddy they love. :couple::two_men_holding_hands::two_women_holding_hands:

What Happens When You Skip Self-Care?

  • We may burn out! Without self-care, you might feel totally drained and out of steam. Think of it like running on empty – not fun, right? :no_entry_sign:It can also lead to issues like getting sick more often, feeling super stressed, or having trouble sleeping. Yikes! :mask:
  • We may also experience mood swings! because skipping self-care can mess with your mood, making you feel cranky or down. No one wants to be the grumpy cat of the group. :cat:
  • We may also feel a drop in our productivity :frowning: Ever try to get things done when you’re tired and stressed? It’s like trying to run through quicksand. :man_running::hole:

-Probably eating especially when I get my cravings satisfied or eat my favourite food/ cuisine like Shabu Shabu, Korean BBQ and western

Oooo, just recently, it’s been really a hectic period for me at work and cause of that there were moments where I forgot to take a pause/ practice self-care and I felt the exhaustion and stress overwhelming me till the point, I broke down crying.

You know what, I actually really like shabushabu too! That reminds me, I should get some with my family this weekend :stuck_out_tongue: I love how food always has a way to make us feel comforted and better, and it’s a common “self-care method” that most people have too! :slight_smile:

And yes, I can imagine how stressful and overwhelming it must have been for you when you forgot to pause and take a break. I have been in that situation many times before too, and I cry often too! By the way, crying is completely normal and encouraged! :wink:

Just remember to pause, take things at a slower pace if it gets too overwhelming :slight_smile:
