With the festive season upon us, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of celebrations. Amidst the joy and excitement, I want to acknowledge that this time of year can also bring about a fair share of pressure and stress to some people. Whether it’s juggling family obligations, meeting deadlines at work, or dealing with financial strain, many of us may find ourselves feeling overwhelmed.
I wanted to open up a discussion on coping mechanisms for dealing with the stress that often accompanies festive celebrations. Here are a few tips to kickstart the conversation:
Prioritize self-care! Amidst all the festivities, don’t forget to take care of yourself. Make time for activities that relax and rejuvenate you, whether it’s going for a walk, practicing mindfulness, or indulging in your favorite hobbies.
Set realistic expectations: It’s easy to get swept up in the idea of the “perfect” festive time, but please remember that things don’t always go as planned Set realistic expectations for yourself, and don’t be too hard on yourself if things don’t turn out exactly as you envisioned!
Now, I’d love to hear from you all:
- What are some strategies you use to manage stress during festive celebrations? Especially from your relatives or neighbours.
- How do you strike a balance between setting healthy boundaries and taking care of your own well-being during this busy time?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences!
