I’ve been suffering from panic attacks lately and I don’t know whether I should tell someone about it because I had them during a particularly stressful time but now that it has passed, the general anixety has decreased a little but I still get panic attacks from doing supposedly mundane things like going to a market, and even if I don’t suffer from a panic attack, I still feel anxious from just being outside.
I’ve heard that in order to get help for panic attacks they need to happen over a long period of time and mine has only happened from the pass month, so I’m unsure whether I should just wait it out and hope that it gets better by itself but I’ve already said to myself that it would get better after the particularly stressful time but it didn’t so now I feel confused on how to confront this problem. Should I wait it out or tell someone about my struggles?
Thank you for coming forward and seeking solutions on what to do next about what you are experiencing. Please know that panic attacks and anxiety are understandable considering the stressful period you went through recently. I have observed these symptoms can be overcome so I recommend addressing these concerns, regardless of their duration.
I agree that panic attacks can be scary: Even if they’re relatively new, seeking help can provide relief and prevent worsening symptoms. Untreated anxiety could lead to increased severity and frequency of panic attacks. I believe addressing anxiety and panic attacks early on can improve treatment outcomes.
May I suggest for you to approach:
Trusted friends or family: Share your feelings with someone you trust, and ask for their support
Mental health professionals: Consult a counsellor specializing in anxiety disorders. Professionals will help you develop coping strategies and provide ongoing support.
Medical professionals. See a doctor to eliminate any underlying medical conditions.
Meanwhile, do know that panic attacks are not life threatening and can be overcome.

@junia Thanks for sharing your experience so honestly… Recognising and reflecting on these feelings is a sign of strength and self-awareness. While it’s natural to want to wait and see if things improve on their own, reaching out for support doesn’t require your struggles to meet a specific timeframe.
The fact that this is impacting your daily life, even in seemingly mundane situations, suggests it could be helpful to share your experiences with someone you trust, whether a friend, family member, or a professional. Are you able to reach out to any of these group of individuals? You don’t have to be alone in this.
