Exploding feelings

I feel overwhelmed, overtired, overstimulated. I don’t even know who I am anymore.

My brain feels like it is going to explode. Easy tasks like writing an email suddenly became so complicated. It feels like I forgot how to live. I get frequent mental blocks and I don’t even know if it is normal.

Is ok.i know u have a negative feeling right now,but u must be positive

Dear @reassuringdragonfruit4502

Thank you for reaching out here. I gather you have been under a lot of strain for a while, feeling overwhelmed and stressed. Understandably it feels like your mind is about to explode under the immense pressure you are in. Many of us can relate to this, so you are not alone.

It may help to slow down to re-centre yourself. To reduce overwhelm, I recommend you take steps to bring yourself in to the present moment instead of getting caught up in a swirl of thoughts. I believe many of these thoughts are not useful and can potentially derail us.

To re-centre, do try this. Take a slow deep breath for 4 counts, hold your breath for 5 counts and exhale for 6 counts. Focus on the movement of air inhaled, held and exhaled. Bring your attention to the movement of the breath, the flow of air.

Next once you are grounded to the present moment, notice thoughts, and recognise thoughts are just thoughts.

Observe thoughts come and go instead of fusing with them and getting caught up in them. Slowing down this way will help you choose response that are guided by your values instead of being driven to react based on autopilot.

I also recommend searching the mindline website for various self help exercises you can practise. In addition, the service wayfinding feature helps you explore suitable follow up resources.

If you require immediate support, reach out the national mindline counsellor at 1771. The service is available round the clock.

Please do not go through this difficult period alone. I encourage you to reach out for much deserved support soon.:yellow_heart:
