Hello @anonymous160, welcome to the forum! Sounds like there’s a lot on your plate right now.

I’m sure PSLE year is a stressful year, I remember me stressing out too during my PSLE year.

There’s still a few months to PSLE, how are you preparing for it?

Hi Isaiah. Thanks for posting here. I’m glad that you shared about your stress. Yes, PSLE year is a stressful year. If I’m not mistaken, your CCA should stand down before Semester 2. Hence, after that you can fully focus on your studies/ PSLE.

hihi!! i am a sec 1 student so here are my tips <33
study hard :sob: give in your all, but do not join a school where you feel like you will have a hard time, it will make sec school really hard (from personal experience, i am in one of the well-known girls schools in sg, it’s been hard)
prepare for a big jump in number of subjects and stress, esp if you opt to take third lang (i take french) and if you have a sports cca, it will jump up the stress level really bad. also, if you get a good score in psle, do celebrate but do not be overconfident, otherwise you will lose so much self-esteem bcoz, sec schools, esp the top ones, are crazy competitive.
start building a portfolio in the dec holidays, it is very helpful and can save you a lot of time in sec school. keep a open mindset and get a good impression on your teachers asap, bcoz sec school teachers are quite biased and fierce. prepare for longer school hours (the earliest i come home is 5) and if you are transitiong from co-ed to single gendered schools, it will be a bit weird and (im in a girls school, so i dont know abt boys schools) the drama or friendship issues get really bad. refrain for bullying or picking on other kids, also find your people, teh ones that you know will stick with you ! i was very suicidal during psle, but it’s gotten so much worse this year, but im getting help :')

either way, good luck on all your endeavours!! you can do this, im rooting for you (come to cedar if you’re a girl hehe)

I feel like PSLE is just a small circle in life, the first challenge out of many more to come. It may seem like a big circle now because its the biggest circle you’ve seen yet. Life isn’t easy, but you will pull through. I believe that you will achieve your desired result for PSLE as long as you keep believing in yourself. You can do it!

heyhey
i totally understand you, PSLE was a whole other challenge and it seriously sucked my soul out
Honestly, the best advice i have would be to rlly just try your best so that you don’t end up in a school you dont want to go.
But i have to say though, the life in sec sch is much more chill ( i think i mugged more for psle than i did for sec sch) and its def possible to improve even if your psle scores aren’t good.
I have a friend, she DSAed into my sch with AL16. Now, she’s doing better than some people in my sch (she’s even doing better than this guy who got AL5), and probably performing as well as those who got single digit ALs now. Psle scores doesn’t rlly matter as long as you put effort into your sec sch studies cuz the subjects and all is really quite diff.

But honestly, this AL thingymagic is sooo frustrating cos if u get lets say 89/100, its AL2 but if u get 89.5/100, they round it up to AL1 and the thing is that u may be just one AL shy frm getting into ur dream sch.(╬▔皿▔)╯

Hello @anonymous160 If I am not wrong, PSLE should be starting in a few weeks/ this month…

Wishing you all the best for your PSLE! I know studying can get stressful, so don’t forget to take care of yourself—take breaks, get enough sleep, eat well, and just breathe. You’ve got this!

bro i totally understand what u mean
I was the first batch of students who used this AL system, the govt said it will reduce stress but tbh it just made it worse (it prob only relieved the stress of those who were scoring like the 45-55 range since they were in the “same tier” as those who scored 64)
for my yr, the math ppr was super hard, and my math wast exactly good either. The best i got (before PSLE) was AL3 (for prelims). Other than prelims, it was always al5-6 from p5-p6. BUT somehow I got AL3 (legit tot i was gonna al7 so i gave up even getting below al11 for my total since my desired sec sch atp needed that score)
Ik the govt said got no bellcurve BUT i think if that ppr is hard, they’ll prob do some grade moderation so it’ll be fine
atbbb lemme know how psle was aft you’re done!

oh my sister was in ur bach too! She was complaining ever since they released the news! But i do kinda do feel bad for yall cos like yall r just 12 yrs old and are having a new bach of PSLE marking system that is absolutely horrendous is tremendously stressful!!

I was doing the Math PSLE paper 2021 and it was soooo hard! The Helen and Ivan qn was like one of the hardest as well as some of the area and figures qns!

Congrats! I would honestly think that i would not even get AL3 tho for that paper, it was sooo tricky!
