During the last two weeks, I experienced moments of recurring panic attacks at my workplace.
Hence, I tried to work from home, even on the days when I had to return to the workplace. I feel really exhausted after each panic attack and fear that i am not able to handle it when I am at work. It happens when at home also at times but at least i can rest to recover from it.
I had visited doctor a couple times to see how things were going but it seems that physically not much of a problem. how should i go about this?
Hi @user1608
Thank you for reaching out. That is already a good first step. Panic attacks though scary are not dangerous and can be overcome, so I hope that info is helpful. I am also noting that the doctors have assured you there is no medical problems.
Here are some psychological strategies and support which could help.
Short-term Strategies
- Breathing exercises: Deep, slow breaths can calm your nervous system.
- Progressive muscle relaxation: Release tension from your muscles.
- Mindfulness meditation: Focus on the present moment.
- Grounding techniques: Use senses to anchor yourself (e.g., 5-4-3-2-1 exercise).
- Take breaks: Step away from triggering situations.
Long-term Solutions
- Seek therapy: Address underlying thoughts and behaviors and learn techniques to manage panic attacks.
- Tapping: Practise tapping to address panic attacks as a form of self- help. Here is a video for you to watch and proactive along with.
Remember, managing panic attacks takes time. Be patient, kind, and compassionate with yourself.
hey, anxiety wont show up as a health problem. I felt that my heart physically hurt but tests show nothing. Get mental help instead. My anxiety is triggered by work too but it became better after help
Hi, thank you for your bravery for sharing this and seeking help. I’m no expert and I’m currently still recovering from my panic attacks earlier this year.
I went to a polyclinic and they now have mental and wellness center. They have phychiatrist and phychologist stationed there once a week. There are subsidies so you do not need to worry about the financial part at least.
