Self help Books recommendations

Trying to rediscover my love for reading again.

Any self help books to recommend?

I’m currently reading ‘the mountain is you’. The plan is to finish it and then read again to see if I can get a different perspective.

Hello @Wildflower there are a couple of books I read which influenced my views on life and happiness. I recommend Ikigai and Peace is Every Step. Hope you get lost in the wonderful world of reading again!

Hey @Wildflower. Oh!!! The Mountain is You by Brianna Wiest is such a gem! It really hits deep when it comes to understanding self-sabotage and turning it into growth.

If you liked that, Brianna Wiest’s 101 Essays That Will Change The Way You Think is also worth checking out. It’s short essays that make you pause and rethink your habits and perspectives.

And honestly, if you can get your hands on The Courage to Be Disliked by Ichiro Kishimi & Fumitake Koga, it’s a treat! It’s written like a conversation and really makes you question how you see happiness, freedom, and how much of life you actually control.

Hope this helps and happy reading! :sunflower:

For me, my survival guide was Braving the Wilderness by Brené Brown. It’s available as both an Ebook, audiobook and physical book in NLB. Do try it out!

Ooh me too i love reading self help, i borrow weekly at lib. I just read some stuff abt Introverts like Shy by Annie ridout? Cant rem her surname. Tips on how to manage when we feel overwhelmed by the outside. My most recent book is by James middleton Meet Ella, he talk abt his journey with his dogs and depression

Thank you so much for all these titles.

I do hope the library have some of these books, else I will have to burn a hole in my adult savings :smiling_face_with_tear:

Ya theyre def in nlb, nowadays i never buy books. coz my house no space

Hello everyone! Love this thread and all the book recommendations so far  I wanted to share one of my personal favourites as well: The Mastery of Love by Don Miguel Ruiz. It’s about cultivating self-love and building healthier relationships. I read it during one of my lowest points, and it really gave me a lot of insight into being kinder to myself and others :’)

I usually use the Libby app to borrow books, it’s super convenient and easy to access a ton of titles! But of course, I know some people still love the feel of a hard copy, so whatever works best for you

hii, i apologise that i don’t have many recommendations, but i’ve read atomic habits by james clear, and it improved my life a bit :)) so you could give it a try as well!! hope you enjoy the read :3

Hi @Wildflower there are so many topics within the self-help section it can be hard to know where to begin. Many depend on your own personality for whether you would like them or not, so it would be good to know about yourself whether you are a gentle slowly-slowly learner like me or if you need something more forceful to get the message across.

Personally I don’t like the ‘habbits of highly successful people’ type books as I find they are more geared towards quick fixes and leave me feeling more guilty I’m not as highly successful as them.

So I’ll recommend to you Breath by James Nestor as a grounding start point. It’s written investigatively by a non-expert so you feel you are discovering along with him. It’s all about the power of breathwork, and although some of the claims are far fetched, I find myself drawn back to the exercises almost daily for mindfulness and stress relief.

I hope you find what you are looking for either way.

Hi Han ooh u are a librarian? Wow
