Staying Grounded in a World of Chaos

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share some of my thoughts, especially with what we’ve seen in the news in the past few days… In a world filled with news of wars, conflicts, and people hurting each other, it can feel tough to find a sense of safety. Many of us may wonder how to stay grounded and secure when the world around us feels so unpredictable. Constant exposure to violence and unrest can weigh heavily on our mental health, leaving us anxious, overwhelmed, and unsure of where to turn for comfort.

Sometimes, finding inner peace in an uncertain world often means focusing on what we can control—like building supportive connections, practicing self-care, and finding small moments of calm. For some of us, it’s about limiting news exposure or creating a safe space in our lives for reflection and healing. As we go through these times, let’s remember the importance of our mental health and try to stay resilience.

Now share with us your thoughts… What helps you feel grounded and safe when the world seems chaotic? What do you feel is important for us to feel like we’re able to “keep carrying on”?

Hi everyone!

Staying grounded during overwhelming times is so important. Here are three ways that might help:

  1. Practice Deep Breathing – It sounds simple, but focusing on deep, slow breaths can calm our nervous system and bring us back to the present. Try the “4-7-8” technique: inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7, and exhale for 8. Even a few cycles can make a difference.
  2. Connect with Nature – Spending time outdoors, even for a short walk, can be grounding. Notice the sights, sounds, and smells around you—whether it’s trees, water, or just a city park. Nature has a natural calming effect that reminds us of a bigger, stable world beyond the chaos.
  3. Limit Media Consumption – It’s easy to get caught up in a constant news loop, which can make everything feel heavier. Setting boundaries with media—like checking updates only once or twice a day—helps us stay informed without becoming overwhelmed.

How about you? Is there a practice or routine that you find helpful to stay centered?
