Studying is like Eating... Don't Choke Please

I used to think the only way to survive school was to chiong everything at once, cram 12 weeks of content in one night, guzzle coffee like it’s water, and call that “productivity.” Boy, was I wrong…:face_with_spiral_eyes:

Spoiler alert: I mostly just ended up staring at my notes, wondering how I got here and whether I should become a potato instead.

Then someone said:
“Studying is like eating. You don’t swallow everything in one go. You eat in bites.”

And that honestly shifted everything.

You don’t try to eat all your meals for the day in one sitting, right? You have breakfast, lunch, dinner… maybe even snacks in between😋

It’s the same with studying. Trying to digest everything at one go just leads to overload (and a brainache). But when you split it into bite-sized topics like chapters or concepts, it’s way easier to take in and actually remember.

So here’s a gentle reminder:
:puzzle_piece: Break your topics into small pieces.
:chopsticks: Chew through one concept at a time.
:teapot: Take breaks to digest.
:shortcake: And reward yourself when you’re full (mentally, I mean. But also…cake helps hehe).

Truth is, you’re not weak for needing rest. You’re human, not a machine.
Even Google needs time to load. So be kind to your brain, okay? :sunflower:

What’s your favourite “study snack”, subject-wise or food-wise? Let’s share and keep each other going! :speech_balloon::chocolate_bar::notebook:

Thank you for the post, it is the exam season currently so this is very much appreciated  For me, I think taking walks un the evening around the park has been my to-go tip, and it never fails to let me relieve my stress!

Thanks for making this post! I may or may not be cramming work right now but it’ll remind me that next time, I can take small bites at a time instead of trying to do everything in a day.

I’d say my study snack would be small amounts of candy to motivate me to keep working.

I totally agree. “Dining”, be it “eating” and/or “drinking”, and “studying”, are forms of digestion that can’t be congested. :head_shaking_vertically:

This is such a good analogy, one that I haven’t heard about before! it’s a good reminder to pace ourselves and that is very much a necessity

Thanks for the post!

Personally, making my own meal and bringing it to picnic/walks helps me release my stress:)
