What is the difference between being depressed and being sd?

When you feel depressed, your mentality down and you feel life is meaningless. If you can’t be aware yourself at this time ,all bad things can happen even sucide.
Sadness is a feeling when you get something you won’t happen or because of any other’s effect. But, I think when you feel very sad and you can’t control your emotion, you can do wrong things again and again and it may lead to depression.

Feeling sad is normal, but usually it is a feeling that you can overcome by engaging in something that you like, or distracting yourself from the issue. Usually this sadness won’t carry on for a prolonged period of time.

However, depression is different in a sense that you feel a prolonged period of sadness, begin losing interest in activities that you once had interest in, and exhibit other symptoms such as major changes in appetite and sleep patterns, losing motivation to get out of bed, feeling suicidal, and so on.

What if someone has extreme bouts of sadness and numbness, which can spiral into suicidal thoughts. But even so, there are happy periods inbetween?

Ah, it still can be depression yknow. There’s a term called smiling depression. And! Depression doesn’t mean everyday depression it means persistent sadness.
You dont have to feel down but if it’s getting more frequent, then it might be depression.

Being sad shld be short and temporary. It doesn’t affect you so much both physicallt and mentally.
Depression takes the soul out of you. You feel drained of energy and colour.
