basically the title, my brain has been plagued with this for a while
you can read up about CBT. one point to bring up is that you don’t need to identify with your ruminations, you can also challenge it with evidence that they are not true
Hi @radical_chad,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Would you like to share more?
From your post description, are you referring to intrusive thoughts?
It sounds like your mind has been constantly working against you, convincing you of things that deep down you know aren’t true, and that must be incredibly frustrating and exhausting. Our brains can sometimes latch onto thoughts and ideas that feel overwhelming, even when we logically know they don’t make sense.
What you’re describing—your brain convincing you of things that aren’t true—can be linked to several psychological and neurological mechanisms. Our brains are complex, and sometimes, they process thoughts in ways that feel intrusive, irrational, or even overwhelming. There are many possible explanations for why this happens.
If it helps, try to pause and remind yourself, “This is my brain creating noise, not a reflection of reality.” The fact that you’re questioning these thoughts already shows strong self-awareness, and that’s a huge step toward regaining control.
Your brain isn’t trying to hurt you—it’s just trying to protect you in ways that might not always be helpful. The fact that you recognise these thought patterns is a huge first step toward regaining control. If these thoughts feel overwhelming, seeking support from a therapist can help rewire these patterns so they don’t take over.
You’re not alone in this, and with the right tools, it’s possible to create a more peaceful and balanced mental space.
