Constantly worrying

Im quite prone to worrying and anxious feelings that it affects my mood and causes me to withdraw from everything including taking care of my family. I feel lousy everyday and its like my mind doesnt allow me to snap out of the situation or feel happy until I know im in the clear. Is there a therapist i can connect with?

Dear @Lostsoul,

You can reach out through mindline.sg which helps people find counsellors and mental health services. You may speak to someone manning the National Mindline at 1771, where they can guide you toward appropriate support. If messaging feels easier, they also provide a WhatsApp option.

When you wrote that it has started to affect your mood and even how you take care of your family, it sounded like this has been weighing on you for quite some time. It also sounds frustrating to feel that you cannot simply “snap out of it.” Anxiety does not usually respond well to willpower alone. It tends to involve a loop between thoughts, emotions, and the body’s alert system, which is why support from a therapist can be helpful.

For now, the fact that you recognised something is not right and asked about therapy is already a meaningful step. Many people stay stuck in silence for a long time before reaching out. Sometimes the first step is simply allowing someone to walk through the situation with you.
