I had posted multiple times about work related but this time I really need to rant. Yesterday I found out I that my boss had already put out a job advertisement for my position without even talking to me. I believe her plans is to only dismiss or terminate me when she has found a suitable candidate.
All I want is to work in a place where I can learn and grow, I don’t want any office politics. Just want a simple life.
Few weeks back I started to observe that she has been leaving me out of meetings and discussions. However, I also realised that she has been avoiding to talk to me, like she went table to table telling everyone to clear their annual leave and she skipped me on purpose. She also asked other people about my personal things when she could have just approached me. It made me super uncomfortable and I did try to put up with it until yesterday when I saw the job posting she did 5 days ago.
Now knowing what a sneaky and childish person this person I call boss, I have to tolerate another 1 month while I serve my notice.
I already have anxieties going to work everyday, my stomach churns, I feel nauseous, my hands shake, and I have difficulty breathing but at least I tried my best to not let it affect work.
Right now my boss is overseas and I am thinking should I give my resignation immediately and end this misery as soon as possible, or to wait till she comes back and then tender my resignation, the very least I would have a full month salary if I wait for her to come back at the 1st of next month.
P.S. also as mentioned in my previous posts, I am in need of money because I just gotten keys to my BTO and I really need the money to do my house.
Hi @Having.bad.days I don’t know your full story, but from what you’ve shared it sounds very very tough. I commend all that you’ve been through and hope you see better days Personally, a workplace will either make or break my physical and mental health, so if I were in your position I would tender immediately after securing that full month of pay. However, I understand needing to save up money for your house, so perhaps take a step back and weigh the pros and cons.
Do you have sufficient rainy day emergency savings? Have you tried applying to other companies? Maybe you can land some job interviews first. When an offer shows up, leave the company.
As a person that suffers from panic attacks and anxieties. I really really value my mental health.
Me personally, i would leave my job immediately while trying to secure interview at a new place. In the meantime, i dont mind doing part-time work to tide over the period of not having a fulltime job. Atleast it gives me a peace of mind and mental clarity to think what is the next best thing for me to do.
i know this might sound reckless, but as a person living with anxiety, my state of mind is of utmost importance.
Thank you for both of your inputs. I usually do prioritise my mental health before anything else but right now monetary issues seems to weigh heavier for me at the moment… seeing that it’s almost the end of the month, plus it’s hitting the weekends already, I will tolerate till my boss comes back… at least that way I would at least secure another month of salary (without deduction) while I serve my 1 month notice.
I also am slightly calmer now, because I happened to receive multiple phone calls from potential future employers after mass sending out applications last night. Thank you both for your encouragement and kind words.
Thank you for your immense courage and grit in sharing your experiences and struggles. I am very happy to hear that you have received call backs from potential future employers. I want to commend you for staying level-headed and focused on securing another job. This suggests to me that you have taken charge by not allowing the unhealthy work environment and unfair treatment to derail you too much.
When you shared how anxious you have been with unfair treatment you received, I am quite certain it resonated with many of us who have had similar experiences. Hence, please do not feel alone. Your feelings are fully valid.
It would be good to do a pros and cons of resigning now vs resigning later.
The one month’s pay is indeed an important factor but so is your mental health and well-being. Do discuss with your family and make the decision.
Keep optimistic and take steps to keep well such as exercising regularly and eating wisely. You can overcome this!
