Lost my dream job

Gonna be honest. I feel like I’ve lost all hope in life. It’s been slightly more than a year since I’ve lost my dream job, and it’s killing me. I haven’t got over it.

Hey @johndoe . Thanks for sharing this honestly. I can hear how much this job meant to you and can only imagine the pain and grief you’re still carrying. Losing a dream job is not just about the job itself, it’s really everything it represented like your purpose, your passion and maybe even a sense of identity. And because of that, it makes sense that the pain still lingers even after a year. That kind of grief doesn’t just disappear, and it will take time. And it’s perfectly okay!

Please don’t be hard on yourself for not being “over it.” Some dreams leave deep marks on us, and that just shows how much it mattered.

If you’re open to sharing, what made it your dream job? I think it’s kind of amazing and inspiring that you found something you were so passionate about. There are others who go on with their lives still searching for that kind of passion or get jaded over time.

Maybe that could give some clues about what still matters to you now. No pressure, though  just here to sit with you in it.

Sending warmth and kindness your way as you navigate this one day at a time :sunflower:

What was your dream job? It is possible to find something similar in the meantime?

Hey there, I’m really sorry you’re feeling this way. Losing something you’ve worked so hard for, especially a dream job, can be incredibly painful, and it’s understandable that the loss still affects you. It’s not something you can just “get over” easily. What you’re feeling shows how much that job meant to you and how deeply you care about your goals and purpose.

Right now, it might feel like everything has stopped moving, but please know this isn’t the end of your story. It’s okay to grieve what you’ve lost and to take things one small step at a time. Sometimes healing means slowly rebuilding confidence and rediscovering what gives your life meaning, even if it feels distant right now. You don’t have to face it alone, and talking to your friends or loved ones can really help lighten the weight you’re carrying.

You still matter, and there’s still a future for you, even if it looks different from what you once imagined. For now, please be gentle with yourself, because you’ve already survived much more than you give yourself credit for.
