a personal issue of mine just had to hit when its O/N level period, hence I dont think I did very well for the exams I took. pretty inopportune considering that I fared pretty decently in past internal exams, but when its national exams the personal issue just had to occur. I remember staying up until 3am on countless days to score well in n levels to get into my dream school, guess that’s all futile now
I hate the thought of knowing I could 100% do better and would definitely be on track to get into my dream school had this issue not occur. I jusr want the ground to swallow me whole . my life trajectory may be altered now
Hi @user5692,
I hear the ache in your words - the weight of all those late nights, the hope you poured into your dream, and the heartbreak of feeling like it slipped away because of something beyond your control. It’s deeply unfair when personal struggles collide with high-stakes moments, especially in a system that often measures worth by grades alone. But your pain doesn’t invalidate your effort. In fact, the very fact that you kept going, even while hurting, shows a strength that no exam score could ever quantify. In a world that rarely pauses for our inner battles, choosing self-compassion is not weakness. You’re allowed to grieve, to feel disappointed, and still hold space for the truth that you did your best under circumstances that would shake anyone.
And please remember that one paper, one exam season, one setback, does not define your entire future. Life isn’t a straight line drawn by grades. It’s a winding path shaped by resilience, creativity, and the choices you make moving forward. Your dream school may feel further away right now, but your dream itself is still alive. There are other doors, other routes, and other ways to become the person you’re meant to be. You are not broken. You are in a hard chapter, yes - but not the final one. Let this moment be a reminder that your worth is not conditional, and your story is still unfolding.
Hey @user5692, it really sounds like you’ve been hit hard by something deeply unfair. You worked so hard, put in those late nights, and now this personal issue came right when it mattered most. Anyone would feel crushed and helpless in your shoes
.
You’re grieving the loss of what could have been, and that hurts because it’s not just about grades, it’s about your dream, your effort, and the sense that life dealt you a bad hand when you least deserved it.
But please remember that this one exam, even a national one, does not define your worth, your potential, or your future. You’ve already proven that you’re capable through your internal exams and your dedication. You’re still that hardworking person and this situation doesn’t erase that.
Hello @user5692 thank you for sharing this here. Having a personal issue come up during such an important period can feel incredibly overwhelming, and it’s completely understandable that you feel things didn’t go as well as you hoped.
You mentioned that you’ve always done pretty well in your past internal exams. That’s something to be really proud of. It really shows how capable and hardworking you are. Staying up until 3 a.m. on countless nights to prepare for the national exams also shows just how dedicated and determined you were to reach your goals. That kind of perseverance says a lot about your strength and character.
It’s also important to remind yourself that you did the very best you could given the circumstances. When something personal hits at the worst possible time, it’s not a reflection of your ability, it’s just really unfortunate timing. I know it feels like everything’s at stake right now, but please remember that one set of exams doesn’t define your whole future. You’ve proven that you’re capable, disciplined, and resilient, and those qualities will continue to open doors for you, even if things don’t go exactly as planned.
Regardless of the outcome, you should be proud of yourself for pushing through such a difficult period. I genuinely hope your results reflect all the hard work and effort you’ve put in and that you get into your dream school!
thanks for the words guys
