Dear @user1769 ,

Thank you for writing in. First of all, my heart goes out to you for what you are experiencing. Have you tried talking to your psychiatrists/therapists about the medication dosage[ex: telling them about how the side effects of your medication are affecting your well-being] . Have you tried researching on the side effects of the medications that you are taking currently? If so, maybe you could try bring up this issue to your psychiatrists/therapists.

As for submission week, maybe it could help you if you could bring up the issues that you are facing with your schoolwork to your class advisors/teachers/ learning& support aids about it. Be specific about how your medications are affecting your body/mind. I am certain that they are more than willing to help you extend the deadline of your submission homework[u may want to write in to teachers via text/MSTeams/WhatsApp and bring up your struggles] .

Lastly, in terms of psychiatric help/support if you find that the help rendered by them does not help you , you could try switching hospitals to see another psychiatrist/therapist that can better assess the kind of support u need.[ex: through referrals from your teachers/family] . Not forgetting, crucial emotional and moral support from your family and friends is very important. Talk to them, share w them your thoughts and feelings. Make sure that they are aware of what you’re going through.

Remember: help is available when you need it. So don’t be afraid to speak to a trusted adult about your issues. Your voice matters. You’re loved, you’re heard, you’re seen. You are not alone.

Until then, @user1769 take care, stay safe and I wish you all the very best. From us here at Mindline, we are sending our love and hugs to you.

Yours sincerely,
@kwantingchingu

Dear @user1769

From your sharing, it sounds what you are currently undergoing is incredibly tough, especially with the pressure of submission week on top of everything else. Please know that it is completely valid to feel overwhelmed, and I want you to know that your feelings matter. It can be really disheartening when you feel like your medications aren’t working or when you think your concerns aren’t being fully acknowledged by your psychiatrist.

Sometimes, when you’re in the middle of intense stress and feeling low, it might help to reach out to someone who can offer support. Consider talking to a trusted friend, family member, or a counsellor at your school who understands the pressures of academic life. If you feel that your current psychiatrist isn’t quite getting what you’re going through, it might be worth discussing your concerns openly with him such as discussing your dosage. You could consider seeking a second opinion, like what @kwantingchingu has shared. Finding the right help can make a big difference.

Please also consider speaking to your lecturers and share your struggles such as side effects of medication, and negotiate for an extension of the submission.

Please remember, you deserve to feel heard and supported. If things ever feel too overwhelming or you’re in crisis, don’t hesitate to reach out for help such as calling the SOS hotline at 1800 221 4444. Your well-being is deeply important, and there are people who truly want to help you through this difficult time.

Take gentle care of yourself, and please know you’re not alone in this. :yellow_heart:

im on multiple antidepressants that help me feel close to normal on the average day (ive been on medication for a few years now and only recently at this dose has it worked for me). at times of stress like this it helps give me enough energy to move around but not enough to actually do anything i have to do.

i understand my psychiatrist is worried about how to even begin adjusting or increasing my dosages given it is quite a lot but it doesnt shake the feeling that im stuck at a point where i cant receive further help even from professionals

Dear @user1769

Thank you for reaching out to us. Feeling like professionals can’t help adequately can leave you feeling trapped and alone, especially when you’re already working so hard just to get through each day. It’s completely understandable to feel frustrated and disheartened when it seems like nothing is making a difference.

May I gently acknowledge how far you have come and the immense progress you have made despite incredible challenges. I sense your resilience and determination and encourage you to keep taking tiny, tiny steps forward. In fact, you just did that by writing in today.
I believe that sometimes, it might help to consider that there are many professionals with different approaches, and finding the right one can take time. It’s okay to explore a second opinion or different treatment options if you feel your current approach isn’t fully meeting your needs. Your experience matters, and you deserve to feel supported and understood.

Please know that even though it feels overwhelming right now, you are not alone in this, and there are people who care about your well-being. If ever you feel unsafe or like you’re at a breaking point, consider reaching out to a trusted friend or crisis service immediately. Your feelings are valid, and I truly hope you find the support that resonates with you. :yellow_heart:
