Superior - we don't need a special needs adult to be in a special needs day activity centre.r

How can Autistic and ADHD adults be nagivating and managing sarcastic feedback that can be a personal attack from a superior.

Working with neurotypical superior can be a challenge. Encounter someone with pretense like superior and colleague can be bothersome and mind/sensory overwhelm.

I would love to hear how normal people deal with these drama and pretense.

Also is there any face to face support group for autistic adult with low support needs to nagivate work life with normal people ?.

Hi @Ouchast_93 Thank you for sharing.

I can understand how challenging and overwhelming it can be working with neurotypical people as a adult with autistic and ADHD while also dealing with a superior that uses sarcasm as a social weapon, it is genuinely exhausting.

On dealing with sarcastic or attacking feedback, one thing that can be helpful is creating a small mental “processing delay”. When something stings, don’t react immediately. A simple “I’ll think about that” can buy you time. You may also write down incidents when they happen as it helps you trust your own perception and is useful if things escalate later.

For face-to-face support, you may consider reaching out to Autism Resource Centre Singapore. Contact them directly and ask specifically about peer support for working adults with low support needs!
