Just to check if there’s any support group for adhd and autistic adult.
Myy psychiatrist refer me to Octave at IMH but the cost isn’t cheap.
So I’m dropping the idea to find a support group to support my needs.

Hi @ouchast_93,
You mentioned checking for support groups, and then having to drop the idea because of cost… that can feel quite discouraging, especially when you were already trying to take a step forward.
In Singapore, support for ADHD/autistic adults usually comes in a few different forms.
Hospital or clinical programmes like Octave tend to be more structured, facilitated by professionals, and often referral-based where there are close follow-ups on the progress of treatment and because of that, they are usually more guided. Structured help usually means more resources are committed, hence cost, while more affordable options can tend to be less structured.
So it becomes less about whether Octave is the only option, and more about what kind of support you actually need right now. Some people find that community or peer-based groups, even if less formal, still give a sense of being understood. Others prefer something more structured where there is clearer guidance and strategies.
If I can check with you, when you think about a support group, are you looking more for practical strategies to manage daily life from professionals, or more of a space where people support one another.
Those two needs can lead to quite different types of groups, and it might help narrow things down. Have you tried speaking to your doctor? Have you shared with them your concerns, they may be able to provide directions on the financial assistance.
I had speak to them I need a support group but I was refer to OCTave.
But cost again is my concern as my pay isn’t enough to foot my bills and my bills are accumulating up as well.
I would need something like support group for adults who manage well in work and are Autistic / AuDHD to share insight.
The doctor is also afraid that I’m isolated therefore advising me to octave for referral.
Hi @Ouchast_93,
I concur with what @FuYuan_Affections had mentioned about how IMH’s Octave can be more structured as compared to community-based initiatives. It also really depends on the type of support you require, and this can be discussed with your Care Team in the next appointment.
With regards to cost, IMH is a public hospital so the fees are usually subsidised for SC and PR. However, if you feel that the cost is still a concern, you can speak to the Medical Social Worker (MSW) at the hospital, to see how things can be worked out. Typically, an MSW can assist in providing further financial assistance beyond Medisave, if your income isn’t enough to cover the bills.
I also second your doctor’s opinion about Octave being a safeguard against isolation. Community support is vital in mental health recovery, and hence it’s important to get the support you need.
Do let us know if you require further assistance!
