Been to the polyclinic to get my dental treatment done, and back to dealing with stubborn new doctors.
Looking at them i feel the entire Singapore healthcare system is just hopeless. Always thought our older generations of doctors are bad, but wait until i starts to deal with those just freahly graduate.
Super stubborn kids they are. I when back to do a filling for my tooth because the filling dropped off. and this doctor is see, just come out with a whole long wind treatment plan, if first wanting me to do a xray, and that see how bad things is before doing a temporary fill and do a referral.
And i was surprised he mentioned rafferal when the previous dentist already did one for me. And X ray told him previously done already, but he talkback telling me previous one is previous one, now is now. I was like WTH….
In case everyone didnt know, in polyclinic dental, the rostered time slot is in 30 mins roster. And this doctor is like spending 10 mins telling me what he wanted to do.
And i was like…come one can you get the filling done, but he insist he cannot do the filling. after keep repeating his treament plan 3 times and me pushing for my patient’s rights and consent 3 times and finally i got fed up and tell him loudly saying, regardless of what you still need to fill the tooth up, i dont know what is so hard for you. before i walk off to the front counter to get the PSA to get the manager up.
And after wasting 10 mins talking to the manager, she told me to come back after lunch to do the treatment.
I really dont get it what is so hard for new doctors to understand what is patient’s rights and consent and how their textbook knowledge is almost irrelevant.
I have lost 2 teeth because of stubborn doctors, who believe that filling up a dead tooth will cause an infection and a lot of pain. Seriously…..come on lar, the tooth is already dead, how to even feel pain? And infection is worse if food debris found its way into the tooth and trap inside.
And they also have a mindset that no point filling up a tooth that has very little tooth left as the filling will drop after awhile. Not knowing that the fillling has actually lasted me for like 3 to 5yrs before it dropped off, not the 3 to 5 months these kids have claimed.
I am not a doctor, but i also learn not to trust a doctor’s opinion blindly after so much has happened in my life.
