Toxic workplaces

Do you feel trapped in a toxic workplace once you’ve experienced one?

I’m leaving my third toxic workplace, and each experience feels worse than the last. It seems like I can never escape that cycle.

This time, I was ostracised and withheld from work information. I was given conflicting reporting times for events and denied access to information and files. I was literally bagging for work. Feedback to my manager went unheard, and the situation did not improved. Office communication is always done in their mother tongue, leaving me out and preventing me from being updated on matters. (I’m the majority race in Singapore).

These days, I feel like I’m invincible at work, or else I get passive-aggressive behaviour if I try to clarify tasks. Minutes drag on like hours, and it’s truly awful.

I can’t wait for my last day to arrive

Dear @Wildflower

Thank you for reaching out. From your sharing I can see that your current workplace culture is not healthy. Understandably you are feeling unsupported and ostracised and this has taken a toll on you. I think anyone else in your situation would feel similarly too, given how toxic it has been.

I’m therefore glad you have prioritised your wellbeing and tendered.

To your question, yes, after a few toxic workplaces, it can start to feel like a repetitive cycle. However, I think these negative experiences have raised your awareness of unhealthy environments and will help you in selecting future workplaces that are healthier and more inclusive.

For now, it’s okay to just focus on getting through each day. You don’t have to fix anything or prove anything anymore.

Move forward with more wisdom and clarity as you select future workplaces that are more likely to value you.:yellow_heart:
