Hi all!
I came across an article which I found really interesting - about Trauma Dumping.
“Trauma dumping” is the act of sharing intense emotional information without considering the listener’s emotional capacity. Counsellors say it’s different from venting, which is reciprocal and promotes connection. Trauma dumping may overwhelm and leave listeners helpless, potentially triggering their own traumas.
Here are some of my questions, do feel free to respond if you’ve any thoughts!
- Have you ever experienced Trauma Dumping before?
- What are the potential consequences for listeners when someone engages in trauma dumping?
- Can trauma dumping potentially trigger personal traumas in the listener, and how can this be addressed or avoided?
