Sometimes I personally feel like life is a dream. My vision becomes blurrier, my ears are ringing, my hands are shaking, and I’ve been told I look completely out of it. Sometimes, I have been told that I can’t even listen properly. This usually happens when I’m in a really, REALLY good mood, such as when in like a birthday party or something, or, it happens when i just feel…there but not there. During these “dreamy” moments, I feel like I can feel everything and nothing for the same time. For example, I can feel the wind on my face, my eyelids touching each other, every eyelash, but I can’t tell when my friend is tapping on my shoulder. So, what is this, is this a sign of mental illness? Physical illness? Is there a cure? (I’m a student, at the level of Primary Five, by the way)
Dear @user9671
Thank you for sharing what you’ve been feeling—it sounds like a really strange and confusing experience, and I’m glad that you are speaking up about it.
What you described—feeling like you’re in a dream, noticing every little thing and also feeling like you’re not really there—can be scary and hard to explain. It’s okay to feel confused by it. Sometimes when our brains are feeling overwhelmed, excited, or even very tired, our bodies can react in ways that make things feel a bit “off” or disconnected.
This doesn’t mean something is wrong with you—it just means your body and mind are sending signals that deserve some care and support.
You’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure this out all by yourself. If you feel comfortable, I really encourage you to talk to a school counsellor or a trusted teacher. Counsellors are kind adults who are trained to help students understand their feelings, thoughts, and experiences, and they can help you feel more grounded and safe.
You’re doing the right thing by asking questions and looking for help. That’s a sign of courage and maturity. You deserve to feel safe, calm, and supported—every single day.
And just in case no one has told you this today: you matter, and what you’re feeling matters too. You’re not alone, and there is help out there for you.
Sending lots of support your way. You’re doing great by reaching out.
Hey, thank you for sharing this. It does sound like a lot to go through. you’re not alone, and it makes sense to want to understand what’s going on.
If it keeps happening, it’s worth checking in with a trusted adult. so you don’t have to figure it out all by yourself
Sending you calm and support !
