Where do I start?

Hello, I am unsure on where to even start with healing. I am in my late 30s with many issues. I suffer from anxiety, low self-esteem, insecurities, trust issues, self control issues and almost always negative. I do have some childhood trauma. I just don’t want to be this way anymore.

Hey @user6972 that sounds like a lot to be carrying with you. I can’t imagine how exhausting it must feel and it’s really brave of you to share it here. But know this, you are not alone. I know that’s a phrase that gets said around a lot these days, but it really is true.

I’d encourage you to talk to someone you trust about it. Maybe a friend or family member? This platform will always be open too if you’d like to share more.

You might also want to consider getting professional help. They can teach you techniques to cope with everything and help fix the underlying issues. Polyclinics provide mental health assessments. So if you’d like, you could start there.

I’d also just like to tell you that things can and will get better. If you’d like to share more about what you’re going through, please do. You can get through this, okay?

Hi @user6972, thank you for reaching out. For starters, you may wish to confide in a trusted friend or family member, and to let them know about your struggles. Reaching out for support through online forums like Let’s Talk is already a good first step.

With regards to professional assistance, there are 3 types of mental health services within the community:

A Community Outreach Team (CREST) can help to identify your needs, support your emotional wellbeing, and link you to other services. This service is provided free-of charge.

A Community Intervention Team (COMIT) has qualified mental health professionals who can provide counselling, case management and caregiver support. This service is provided free-of-charge.

A General Practitioner (GP) clinic or Polyclinic can provide medical support or refer you to psychiatric services, which are located in hospitals such as IMH, CGH and SGH. This service is subsidised by the government through schemes such as MediSave.

You may locate these services through our Service Wayfinder: mindline.sg | Free Mental Health Resources & Mindfulness Tools in Singapore

If you need immediate mental health support, you may contact National Mindline at 1771 (Call) or +65 6669 1771 (WhatsApp). This helpline is manned by mental health professionals and is available 24/7.

Hope this helps! Take care of yourself meanwhile.

Best regards,

Dear @user6972

Thank you for reaching out for help, which I see as a strong and resolute first step towards achieving a better quality of life. I sense your determination despite being unsure where to start.

I wish to also acknowledge the impact that childhood trauma plays in disrupting our lives, and I have seen that unresolved trauma has the potential of hurting us throughout our lives if not addressed or processed in a safe space.

@Obi_Wan_Kenobi has suggested some good resources you can consider as you initiate trauma recovery efforts. Therapists and counsellors provide a non judgmental environment where you can talk openly and safely. For many among us, it feels that we are finally heard and understood.

I believe that by refraining of thoughts and choosing behaviours that move you closer to your desired goals, you can experience positive change. Keep going by taking small regular steps towards a better quality of life. Do continue to reach out here for support whenever needed. :yellow_heart:

Hey @user6972,
I want to honor your courage in sharing something so deeply personal. Opening up about our struggles takes real strength, and the self-awareness you’ve shown tells me you’re already taking meaningful steps forward

What strikes me most is how clearly you’ve identified what’s happening in your life. That kind of honest self-reflection isn’t easy—it requires facing difficult truths about ourselves. The fact that you’ve done this inner work and can articulate where you are right now shows incredible resilience.

Your desire for change is powerful. When we reach that point of saying “I don’t want it to be this way anymore,” we’re actually standing at the threshold of transformation. You’re not just recognizing the problem—you’re ready to do something about it, and that readiness is everything.

Healing often begins with reaching out, just as you’re doing now. Trusted support—whether from professionals, coaches, or community—can provide both the guidance and accountability that makes real change possible. If you’re open to exploring options, I’d like to share something that profoundly shifted my own life: AsiaWorks in Singapore (also referred to as SGWorks training~)

I was in a similar place once—feeling lost and disconnected from myself. This organization addresses exactly what you’re describing: childhood trauma, limiting beliefs, and the deep patterns that keep us stuck. More than that, it’s where I found my people—a community that truly understands the journey of growth and healing. I share this because transformation becomes so much more possible when we’re not doing it alone.

Of course, there are many paths to healing. As @Obi_Wan_Kenobi mentioned, clinical support groups can also be incredibly valuable. The key is finding what resonates with you and taking that first step.

Please remember: your willingness to change is your greatest asset right now. You’re not broken—you’re someone who’s ready to heal. You’re not alone in this journey, and you are deeply valued, exactly as you are right now💙

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. They are greatly appreciated. I am interested in hearing more about SGWorks training.

I really appreciate your words of encouragement.

hey there sure thing I’d be happy to share :blue_heart:

SGWorks is an experiential training program designed to help people discover and live their best lives. If you’d like to learn more, here’s their website: https://www.sgworkstraining.com/sgworks

Personally, I used to be limited greatly with patterns in myself that kept me small—constantly blaming others for my circumstances, giving away my power, and feeling like life was just happening to me rather than something I could actively shape. I felt so controlled by everyone and everything around me, and it was exhausting

What this training gave me was the huge realization that I had the power to completely transform my experience of life. But even more precious than that personal breakthrough was the community~

I found people who understood the messy, beautiful work of growth. People who hold space for my struggles without judgment, who celebrate my breakthroughs, and who challenge me for greater things, most of the time that I think is impossible to achieve💙

They offer programs throughout the year, so if you’re curios, you could always reach out to them via email to learn about upcoming sessions~

There’s no pressure, of course, no right no wrong yeah? Just what works for you~
