When a mental heath npo only help some people but does not help others, who can stop them?
That’s a really tough question. It feels unfair when some people get help and others don’t. Sometimes, it’s about how the NPO works or the resources they have. But if they’re not helping everyone fairly, people can speak up — like telling leaders, sharing feedback, or finding others who can make changes. You’re right to ask who can stop that. Everyone deserves help, and it’s important to keep asking for better support.
many mental health NPOs are actually more into the easy job of helping people with issues without implications. And most will avoid people with issues related to suicide and/or self harm .etc And they will ignore and shoo you off. And also there are many who are just passive advocate who has no exp in dealing with people with actual mental health issues.
I guess you need to go shopping for another mental health NPO bah. Sadly many NPO is created for publicity as well as fame and easy money.
I know many of them always like to conduct all kinds of talks and always welcome people to bring friends along, as the fact that they can claim $$ for each turn out.
I learned this when i was taking peer support course and one of the mental health NPO found was there giving talks and later she ask all the learners to bring their family members to their monthly talks and support groups. And it somehow triggered many of the learners and the lectuer end up talk everyone down by sharing why the founder is trying to hard to get as many people as join their talks.
From there on i pretty much avoid such NPO.
Sounds so tough :((( does anyone know of NPOs that they have good experiences with?
I guess sometimes just not a good fit? Like relationships or friendships, need to find a good fit… and when we continue trying, and the right one come arnd, it then feels worth it
There’s a NPO, they do suicide n selfharm
Right publicity!
And they hold fundraisers asking public donate money to them, saying they help people but they only help some people, does not help others!
Actually, I know quite a number of them that does suicide and self harm.
But I can tell you this, you tell try go to them and tell them you you are suicidal and see how they panic. Many of are paper generals, know how to talk but action time all panic.
I ever try to apply to be a trainer for one of them, but during my intro i told them about my mental health history after hearing how most handle suicidal people, and somehow they all face turn green and many in class start telling the trainer what was mentioned is too much for them to handle. And i was like, LOL…you are training people to be suicide intervention trainers and yet all the participants behaves like snowflakes, and start whinning after there is a person with mental health issue in the class.
I never trust this kind of NPOs its like wayang kings. Know how to act only bah.
If you really need help you can try mental health based VWOs. From what i know, Clarity and Club Heal and Fei Yue is quite good. Brahm Centre is good but the managementand above have weak stomach for “heavy content”. The rest you can skip total. And strict avoid those caregivers based groups. They only see things in caregivers point of view.
those NPOs that does talks can just leave them alone bah. Since that is all they are good in.
