How do I cope with so many new developments in my life. I feel exhausted from the mental fatigue of my mind endlessly thinking when I don’t keep myself busy or distracted.
2024 has been meh, sick cat, funerals, accidents, found out my mom has been cheating for a long time
That’s a lot to deal with @Hermione_1, I can imagine how tiring it is. I think being “busy” is a good way to cope - how have you been keeping yourself busy?
Get professional help to process ur thoughts n feelings. U have a lot going on
@Hermione_1 That does sound like an incredibly tough year. I’m so sorry you’ve been hit with so much all at once… no wonder you’re feeling mentally exhausted.
Have you had a chance to try anything to help manage it all? Like ways to process things or give your mind a bit of a breather? Whether it’s talking to someone you trust or even finding a moment for yourself, I’d love to hear what you’ve tried so far.
Hmm I try to schedule more days of work. When I’m home it’s just chores and cooking sometimes. Then I watch Netflix and then go to bed. Cooking is fun sometimes.
Do u know the reason y your mum cheat? Was she unhappy all the while ?
@Hermione_1 Sorry for the late reply!
It sounds like you’re doing your best to keep things moving, and that’s really commendable, especially with everything you’re dealing with. Cooking being fun sometimes is a great start—it’s one of those activities that can feel both creative and calming.
Could you share what about cooking is fun for you? I enjoy cooking too as it keeps my mind off things but due to work and all, I only do it once or twice a week for meal prep.
Anyway, I’m glad that you’re finding ways to stay occupied, but don’t forget to really rest your mind too. Even a small moment of mindfulness, like stepping outside for fresh air or enjoying a quiet cup of tea, can help your mind decompress. You’ve been through a lot, and it’s okay to take things one step at a time.
Jiayou and keep us updated!!
Sorry to know this, yea i would feel mental fatigue too. Hows it going? Is 2025 better?
For me the worst was during lockdown, i was sick couldn find outside job, yet old ppl din ustand just nagged i shld try harder esp lazy fogey not disabled judgy. Tho situation diff i ustand mental fatigue. Self care is vital
@ZenCat Oh! U like to cook too? Wahh i jus wanto watch jamie oliver xd
Thank you for replying so kindly.
Hmm, I used to share it quite a bit with my best friend but now I try to not to as I feel she too has a quite abit on her
plate and is going through a lot too. Sometimes I find myself not sharing it too much to my friends cos I don’t want to overshare and some matters just seem too private / unbelievable cos it’s just so wild.
I’ve been thinking about seeing a counsellor but I just only started getting financially stable so maybe I shall in a few months.
I like cooking cos it gives me the freedom to explore different cuisines and taste as I go. There’s something really nice about coming up with recipes in your mind or using whatever ingredients available on hand. And the final result actually turning out really tasty I also enjoy it when my siblings enjoy what I cook for them.
Hey, I’m sorry to hear about your experience during covid period. It must have really tough and stressful for you. Sometimes, I wish that those around us would not pressure us too much. I hope that 2025 and the following years to come are better for you health wise and that people are kinder towards you I agree, self care is important. Don’t ever feel guilty for taking care of yourself you’re doing your best!
Yeah I do! I usually get inspired to cook based on dishes I’ve eaten before overseas or through TikTok/ Instagram reels. S
It’s pretty much affected a third of my recommended algorithm
@Hermione_1 It’s really admirable that even while you’re going through such a difficult time, you’re thinking about your friend and her well-being too. That level of care and selflessness is truly a strength, and it shows just how much heart you have, even when you’re carrying your own burdens. You’re juggling a lot, and it’s understandable that it would be hard to share everything with those around you when you’re worried about their load as well.
It’s great to hear that cooking brings you joy and that you enjoy the creative process behind it. The way you described it sounds so fulfilling, especially when your siblings enjoy what you’ve made—there’s something so rewarding in that shared experience. I watch a lot of reels on cooking too haha!
Regarding your comment on counselling services, if you’re open to exploring community support, I’d suggest considering the CREST programme which could provide some form of basic emotional support for you. It might be just the kind of support you need right now, without the pressure of financial strain.
You can look for the nearest CREST team via the service wayfinder tool here - https://www.mindline.sg/mental-health-service-providers/start
@Fenrispro @Hermione_1 On a separate note, recently I enjoy watching @hermann (on IG). Do share if you have any nice TikTok/IG users to watch on cooking! Hahahaha.
