So I’ve read the self-helps, list of things to get out of low mood - basically get exercise, eat well, sleep well (if possible), go out meet people, talk to friends, visit relatives, find distractions (read a book/ watch a movie etc)
But to what end? I’ve done all of that. Everyday I’m coping, I’m getting through the day - and the next day I have to get through another day?!
Hey @tactfulsugarcane5278, seems like you are questioning the point of trying out coping methods when the feeling of dreading the next day continues to linger. Honestly, you are very valid to question the effectiveness of these strategies as they only seem to be working as a distraction instead of solving the constant dread that you may be experiencing. While I don’t have a direct answer to your question, I was wondering - since you already seem to have a good grasp of coping methods and are actively implementing them, what else do you feel is missing that could improve the feeling of dread you experience everyday?
Dear @tactfulsugarcane5278
Thank you for sharing what you are going through. I think that is commendable how much effort you are putting in to address the low mood.
It may help to take stock and review which of strategies work better for you.
Do also consider speaking to a counsellor to unpack the thinking patterns that may be contributing to the low mood. The counsellor could introduce you to techniques such as being mindful and present in the moment and choosing values driven action. These techniques would allow you to defuse from thoughts and allow thoughts to come and go like radio chatter in the background, without bothering you. You could then focus on choosing actions that are aligned to your values.
Over time, and with consistent practice you can improve your wellbeing.
