Hey @ryan0,
It’s clear that the intensity of this pressure is unbearable for you. Taking exams is never easy, no matter how many times someone goes through it. And honestly, it’s rarely just about the exam itself. It’s the part before that feels worse… and the part after that keeps you fearing what the results mean. The intensity can be so strong that it breaks you from the inside.
A lot of us end up tagging our self-worth to our marks without even realising it. That adds a whole layer of pressure that isn’t visible to others. And the fear of judgement… that’s real too. So the problem isn’t that you can’t study long hours or that something is wrong with you. It’s that you’re carrying fear, expectations, and the “what if I fail” thoughts all at the same time.
If it’s ok, perhaps we can work something together in facing fear… here’s something to hold onto: Facing fear isn’t about fighting it head-on or pretending it doesn’t exist. It usually starts with noticing how your body reacts when the fear rises… the tightening, the breath stuck, the “I’m not enough” voice. When you can name the fear gently, even quietly inside yourself, it stops being this huge monster and becomes something you can look at bit by bit. You don’t have to conquer it; you just need enough space to feel safe while it’s there.
So, let’s just hold this moment slowly? And breathe a little to know and believe that we have to take 5 mins of break every now and then, the efforts will work out better. Let us know how you feel?
Hey man, I understand that things are stressful. But look at me. My L1R5 is 25, and I’m secondary 3 this year, and O-levels is next year. I understand how difficult it is, but trust me, if you put your mind to it, it is possible to get that score you want. “It always seems impossible until it is done.” Nelson Mandela once said that. Trust me, you can still do it, a few more months till its time. You got this!
Hey @ryan0 ,
It sounds like you’re feeling really stressed out on O levels and putting alot of pressure on urself.
to be honest, I do agree with you on the EL compre being hard becoz I rmb I used to keep failing that
My L1R5 was 10, not very amazing; and I remember crying after seeing my mother tongue results because it was C6 ![]()
I’m really glad that you have a goal in mind (i.e go VJC) because I feel it would motivate you to work even harder (does it…?) but at the same time I can also sense that you have some difficulties trying to study
I wanted to let you know that everyone has different studying method, so perhaps you can try experimenting with different styles of studying…? ![]()
There is absolutely nothing wrong with you and everyone is running their own marathon (to O levels I mean). Pace yourself well, don’t push yourself too hard, and remember that having rests is also important for you to keep going ![]()
Let me know if you need any study tips or anything?
Wishing you all the best for Os!!!
