Yes…..finally. Someone in the government has the mode to update supportgowhere.
But….guess what?
There is 0 schemes available under the mental health section. And the amount of services in the mental health section is down to 1/4 of what it used to be.
So…..where did all the mental health support that our gov have promised go? Where the few hundred million worth of support?
Can you all imagine the amount of false services that are listed there before the updates, how many times people needing help will have to bam their head on the wall before they can find the help they needed.
The fatigue and frustration in what you shared is understandable. It’s disheartening when platforms meant to connect people to help appear to become leaner instead of more comprehensive. When large investments have been announced and national campaigns are rolled out, users naturally expect to see those improvements reflected in the services they turn to most.
From your description, it seems the recent update on supportgowhere might have unintentionally narrowed access to some mental-health listings. If that’s the case, it highlights a deeper structural gap, not of intent, but of implementation and consultation. A platform built to guide vulnerable users needs to be designed with the realities of how people search for help, not just how systems categorise it.
If I may, mindful not to overstep what you are thinking, perhaps a more person-centred approach could include:
Direct helplines for those in immediate distress.
Clearly marked, affordable therapy options.
Community programmes filtered by age, income, or urgency.
Clear separation between clinical, social, and financial services.
Real-time updates when services change or reach capacity.
A human contact or chat feature that prevents people from getting lost.
I want to say that this isn’t about pointing fingers, it’s about bridging the gap between policy intent and people’s lived experience. The effort to centralise support is commendable, but it may need more active co-design with ground practitioners and service users to truly serve its purpose.
By the way, I checked the current portal and tried the options to understand where I would land: SupportGoWhere
Here’s what’s listed now as available schemes:
29 Financial Support
27 Work and Learning
20 Disability
20 Seniors
17 Healthcare
17 Housing and Shelter
11 Children and Youth
10 Families and Parenting
It seems mental-health support isn’t visible as its own category anymore. If you’ve explored it, did you notice whether those services are nested under other categories or missing altogether? That distinction matters, because I believe for you visibility is accessibility. Hope to hear from you?
There isn’t a specific mental health scheme in Singapore, but there are affordable and subsidised community mental health services available, such as the CREST and COMIT programmes. I suspect that the number of listed services may have decreased, as providers offering the same type of service are now grouped under a single category rather than being shown individually. Just my 10 cents!
Hi @user1446 it is disappointing that there are no schemes for mental health. And I see you — that while there are mental health services you noticed that this has been reduced. And you’re not saying there are no mental health services, but no schemes right?
I’m wondering what services you’re looking for? Maybe I can support in recommending or pointing you the right way for affordable services
LOL….i guess i can only say the supportgowhere seems have loose a lot of weight. If its in a weight loss program, i would say it will be a great success.
Still…..in the past before the update. Looking for help using supportgowhere is feels like a some cold calling to try sell insurance. As majority of the providers listed actually dont provide the listed service.
Honesty…most of the financial support listed feels like its there to cheat small children, since most of them are those yearly handouts by our gov and not something that people in need can apply. I only feel its reasonable to list those handout if people can apply for a 2nd helping, if not i really dont see the point.
But still….i and writing this not because i needed help, but more of being bothered by how much help is out there. Just to say, when there is news report about people benefiting from certain scheme, programs or services. It feels like scam promotion, as 10 out of 10 times if i approached the same service provide and ask for the exact same thing mentioned in the news, they will tell me they dont provide such service.
hi @user1446 , it must be really frustrating to look for mental health services and see no schemes or fewer resources in the past are there any specific resources you’re looking for right now?
Hi @user1446 I understand you’re bothered by how there isn’t much help out there, and that the process of finding help should be more personable? Does that fit?
I hear you’re not needing help, but also note that you have approached some services for help? I’m wondering in terms of how I can support then and maybe be a source of a bit more personable help, what can I do to support?
