How can I change.

I’ve noticed ever since I entered poly with my new found freedom, I’ve been unable to control myself from gaming. I’ve seen myself being addicted to games 24/7, even neglecting my personal self care just to squeeze out more time for gaming. I’ve also been skipping school intentionally even though I know of such consequences that will come back to bite me. I’m not really sure what to do at this point as I feel like I’ve tried most methods online such as attempting a detox, finding other hobbies etc but it all still leads back to me gaming. I’m not sure what to do at this point as my grades have been declining and I don’t feel like I would be able to live up to my parents expectations, and I fear for my future as well. I’ve done some slight research into medication that can suppress and reduce such cravings but I’m not sure if it’s the right step to take

Hey @creativesnowdrop7807, hear how much you are struggling with your gaming addiction to the point where it is affecting your self-care routines as well. This must be very difficult to navigate, and I’m sure that your post is relatable to many others on let’s talk as well :mending_heart: Seems like you have already tried many methods and are actively researching how to overcome this, which is a great start! I wonder, would it be helpful to explore more of the reason behind what makes you resort to gaming? Is it possibly a way to distract you from your thoughts? It may be useful to keep a mental (or physical, if that helps!) note of it, each time you feel the need to resort to gaming again. If you feel that you would benefit from professional support as you navigate this, I have found these websites you can check out:
