Self-identity

What is an experience that changed who are as a person fundamentally?

Personally, I would say that traumatic events or harsh environments would change a person drastically but I still believe that people are still capable of change slightly even without much external influences.

The first death in my family changed me as a person. It shifted how I view the people in my life and the time we have together. Losing someone made me realise how fragile life is and how easily we take the presence of our loved ones for granted. It taught me to cherish those around me more deeply, to be more intentional with my time and words, and to hold onto the moments we share—no matter how small.

Overall, this experience redefined my relationships, reminding me to show love and appreciation while we still have the chance.

My experience would be similar with @ZenCat where I experienced two losses of family members within a few months. It made me realize how fragile life is, it could always be the last time you see someone. I also find myself just going ahead to meet up with others even if it’s tiring at times just because I’m afraid it may be the last (who knows!).
Glad to see others with similar experiences. Loss and grief does change one.

When I am told by my peers that what I thought was good for everyone was actually not good… This was when I was leading a team, I’m much of a people pleaser and peacekeeper, I swept a lot of discussions under the carpet to maintain peace between teammates, then was later told that that actually caused more unhappiness and tension instead.
I learnt from that 2 things: what I like or feel comfortable with might not be the same for others, and its important to keep an open mind and have open conversations often.
So we can exchange learnings with one another and grow together, no matter who the other party may be. (also why I’m here on lets talk haha)
@donuts so whats your experience that changed ya? haha
