In today’s post on cognitive distortions, I’d like to cover the next one which is catastrophising.
This is where a person expects the absolute worst possible outcome to happen although the chances are low:
“If something is going to happen, it’ll probably be the worst-case scenario!”
“I’ll never get over this”
Thus, ‘counter’ it by purposefully flipping your thinking to look for the best case scenario and visualise that outcome to de-catastrophise the situation
“What could go right?”
