Worried worryer

I worry and overthink alot, its exhausting me everyday.

I want to take a step back in my career to focus on family and myself but i worry about finances. I want to have another child but i worry about not being able to cope. I feel like even 1 child can be overwhelming on some days. I constantly think that i am not doing well in my job. Truth is i dont enjoy it and the hours can be taxing on my family time and me being a present parent. The list goes on.

I just feel so frustrated not having the answers on what to do or anyone to talk to, and dont want to make the wrong move in life.

Sounds like you’re carrying a lot, and it’s draining you. Maybe it’s not about finding the perfect answer but taking small steps. Could you explore lighter work options or set better boundaries? And if another kid feels overwhelming now, maybe that’s a decision for later. You don’t have to figure it all out at once. Is there any small change that could make things feel a bit lighter?

Hi @Lostsoul,

It sounds like you’re carrying a heavy burden of worries and responsibilities, and that can be incredibly tough. Wanting to step back from your career to focus on your family and yourself is a deeply personal and understandable decision. Balancing financial concerns, family aspirations, and personal well-being can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re constantly overthinking. It’s completely natural to feel this way, and your feelings are valid.

Juggling the desire for another child, career dissatisfaction, and the challenges of being a present parent is a lot to handle. It’s important to recognize that it’s okay to feel overwhelmed and uncertain. Many parents grapple with similar feelings, and you’re not alone in this. Taking a moment to breathe, reflect, and prioritize can help you find some clarity. It might be helpful to have a candid conversation with a trusted friend, family member, or even a professional to explore your options and get some support.

Remember, it’s okay not to have all the answers right away. Life is full of uncertainties, and making decisions can be daunting. Trust in yourself and the journey you’re on. You deserve to find a balance that allows you to be fulfilled both personally and professionally. Taking things one step at a time and being kind to yourself can make a significant difference. You have the strength to navigate this, and it’s perfectly okay to seek out the support you need along the way.

hello @Lostsoul! Feels like you’re feeling overwhelmed with things (work and family). With the high expenses in SG, it’s understandable that you feel overwhelmed. Have you tried to discuss your plans with your family (eg. change of career)? Don’t worry about not being able to find the answer immediately. You’ll eventually get the answer

I dont know. I just feel like i might not be able to find another job. And if i asked for lower responsibilities (lower pay) itll hurt my confidence because ill feel like i im not good enough or tht my efforts in getting a promotion then were wasted. Its like im not open to any options to help myself and the cycle never stops. Im trying to set better boundaries but its mostly on the weekends only. But sometimes it doesnt feel enough and my spouse works long hours too. So it doesnt help when it comes to family planning or management
