I learn blender, pepakura and arduino using my Lenovo g40-70 the past 4 years and I lost the hdd with no backup and I feel like I just lost my only true friend and also I started a YouTube channel and got 50 subs and other laptop in my house is full of MacBooks that make me feel not right because MacBooks is not usually build for things like these and I’m depressed and play gt7 doesn’t help

Hi @ADR_640,

Thank you for sharing this with us.

First of all, I’m really sorry that happened. From what you wrote, it sounds like that HDD wasn’t just a storage device, but something that held 4 years’ worth of learning, projects, creativity and memories that were important to you. I can imagine that losing all of that can almost feel a bit like losing a piece of yourself, especially when you‘ve poured in so much time and effort into building and creating them.

I also wanted to say that it’s impressive how much you’ve taught yourself over the years! Learning things like Blender, Pepakura and Arduino takes a lot of patience and dedication. Starting a YouTube channel and growing it to 50 subscribers is something to be proud of too. :raising_hands:

You described it as feeling like you lost your “only true friend”. That stood out to me. It sounds like your Lenovo and the things you created with it meant a lot more to you than just a hobby, and has been a source of comfort, enjoyment and a place where you could just be yourself.

You also mentioned feeling depressed and that playing GT7 hasn’t really helped. Could you share a little more about what the past few days have been like for you? Have you been able to enjoy doing anything else, or does everything feel difficult right now?

If you find that the loss has been affecting you deeply and if at any point you feel it would help to talk things through with someone in real time, there are people who can support you too. This could be a trusted adult, your school counsellor or a service like Tinkle Friend (https://www.tinklefriend.sg), where you can speak to or chat with a counsellor.

That said, please know that you’re welcome to continue sharing here on the forum as well. We’re glad you reached out and will be here to listen. :white_heart:

thanks, and actrally since i used blender again lately i feel better

Really glad to hear that. Thank you for letting us know!

It’s nice that you’ve found yourself enjoying blender again. If it’s been helping you feel a little better lately, I hope you’re able to keep making time for it.

And if things ever start feeling overwhelming again, you’re always welcome back here to chat with our community. Take care! :raising_hands:
