I’m 14 years old and i’m actually uh underweight but I always feel guilty eating food or drinking and I have this habit to check my weight and I’ll feel bad when its increased. even though its still underweight, and I don’t know why I feel so bad about eating like its a normal thing but my brain is stupid and decided to tell me that eating is bad. luckily I have the best parents ever they always make sure I drink water and eat and stuff but i always feel bad for eating. I always think I’m fat and stuff like that or that I shouldnt eat so much (I don’t eat a lot actually) and I need to lose weight. but its so hard to lose weight because I cant exercise, I have a heart condition, sort of. its diagnosed tho. and I need a way to force my body to not feel bad eating bc its supposed to be a normal thing.
Hi @yeol,
Thank you for sharing this, it takes a lot to put something like this into words, especially at 14.
What you’re describing, the feeling guilty about eating, thinking that you’re fat even when you’re underweight, wanting to lose more weight. These are signs that something real is going on that deserves proper support, not just willpower or finding tricks to push through it.
With what you’ve shared, your heart condition on top of being underweight, this is something that really needs a doctor and ideally a specialist who works with eating concerns. Not because you’re in any trouble, but because your body needs careful looking after right now and you deserve more than just trying to manage this alone.
You mentioned having the best parents who look out for you, that’s wonderful! Have you been able to tell them what you’ve been experiencing? In addition, would you like to share this with them to maybe bring you to see a doctor at your GP/Polyclinic? These are some steps you may want to consider taking moving forward.
Take care!
